Eric Omondi’s Emotional Journey to Albert Ojwang’s School Touches the Nation

Homa Bay County, Kenya – Kenyan comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi has once again captured the hearts of many after he paid an emotional visit to Albert Ojwang’s school in Homa Bay County — a journey that underscored his deep commitment to helping underprivileged children and spotlighting forgotten stories.

Albert Ojwang, a young boy from the region, first caught national attention through a viral video highlighting his humble background and desperate plea for school support. The clip touched millions, including Omondi, who vowed to find and support the child.

A Surprise Visit

On Monday, Eric Omondi fulfilled that promise. Armed with books, uniforms, food supplies, and emotional words of encouragement, he arrived at Ojwang’s school, Nyaburi Integrated Primary School, unannounced. His visit brought classrooms to a standstill, with both teachers and pupils overcome with emotion.

“It broke my heart to see the conditions these children study in,” Omondi said during an impromptu address. “But Albert reminded me of why we must never give up on the future of this country — the children.”

Raw Emotion, Real Impact

Videos from the visit show Omondi in tears as he embraces Albert. The boy, visibly shy but overwhelmed with gratitude, clung to Omondi as classmates cheered. Teachers and community members stood in awe, praising the comedian not only for his fame, but for using his platform to inspire action.

Omondi later took to social media, writing:

“This is one of the most emotional things I have ever experienced. Albert, you have a warrior’s spirit. To every child like you — we see you, we hear you, and we will stand by you.”

More Than a One-Time Act

The visit wasn’t just symbolic. Omondi pledged to pay for Albert’s education through high school and beyond, and to support the school’s infrastructure, including repairing classrooms and providing additional learning materials.

This is not the first time the comedian has stepped up. In recent months, Omondi has launched multiple humanitarian efforts under his “Sisi Kwa Sisi” initiative, distributing food, school fees, and essentials to struggling communities across Kenya.

A Message to Leaders

Eric Omondi didn’t shy away from calling out political leaders during his visit, urging them to stop ignoring rural schools and instead direct resources to support children like Albert, who represent “the heartbeat of this nation.”

“Change doesn’t need to come from the top. It starts with us,” he told reporters. “If we all do a little, the results will be huge.”
