Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has been released on a Sh5 million bond or an alternative Sh1.5 million cash bail following his arraignment in court over corruption-related charges.
Wangamati, who served as Bungoma’s second governor between 2017 and 2022, is facing allegations of mismanagement of public funds during his tenure. The charges, according to the prosecution, stem from questionable procurement processes and suspected embezzlement of county resources.
