DCI Launches Probe into Assassination of Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has opened a probe into the brutal assassination of prominent city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday evening along Magadi Road, Nairobi.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the agency confirmed that experts from the National Forensic Laboratory were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they meticulously combed through the area for crucial leads. Evidence gathered will form the backbone of the homicide investigation.

Witnesses reported that Mbobu was attacked by assailants driving in a speeding vehicle, which fled the scene moments after the fatal shots were fired. The incident caused panic along the busy road, with motorists and pedestrians left in shock at the brazen nature of the killing.

Authorities say preliminary investigations suggest that the assassination was well-coordinated and carefully executed, raising concerns that the killers had been tracking the lawyer’s movements prior to the attack.

Family, friends, and colleagues have described Mbobu as a dedicated legal mind who had made his mark in Nairobi’s legal circles. His death has sparked outrage within the law fraternity, with many calling on security agencies to speed up investigations and ensure justice is served.

The DCI assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in unraveling the motive behind the assassination and bringing those responsible to book.

The killing adds to a worrying trend of targeted murders of professionals in Nairobi, raising fresh questions about insecurity and the safety of high-profile individuals.
