A postmortem has confirmed that Cheryl Adhiambo, a 21-year-old student at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), died from a single gunshot wound to the head during a police operation in Huruma.
Pathologists revealed that the bullet entered through the left side of her head and exited at the back, causing fatal injuries. The shooting occurred on the evening of February 7, during a police chase involving suspected robbers, sparking unrest and protests in the area.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since deployed a Rapid Response Team to investigate the incident. According to police, officers fired warning shots to disperse crowds during the operation, during which Adhiambo was tragically killed.
The death of Cheryl Adhiambo has reignited debates on police accountability and use of force in Kenya.
