It’s Exam Season! 2025 KCSE Kicks Off with Over 960,000 Candidates Ready to Shine

The 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams officially kicked off today, marking a crucial milestone for thousands of students across the country. According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), a total of over 960,000 candidates are sitting for the national tests in more than 10,000 examination centers nationwide.

The examinations began with foreign and sign language orals, paving the way for practical papers scheduled between October 22 and 31. Thereafter, the written examinations will take place from November 4 to 21, signaling the final academic hurdle for Form Four candidates before transitioning to tertiary institutions or the job market.

Education officials have assured the public that all measures have been put in place to ensure integrity, security, and fairness throughout the exam period. The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with security agencies, has deployed supervisors and invigilators across all counties to oversee smooth administration of the papers.

Speaking during the official launch of the exams, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu urged candidates to remain calm and confident, reminding them that the KCSE is not just a test of knowledge but also of discipline and determination. He further cautioned against any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing that the government has adopted advanced surveillance systems to detect and prevent cheating.

Parents and teachers across the country have also expressed their support and encouragement, hoping for excellent results that will open new opportunities for the young learners.

This year’s KCSE is especially significant as it marks the second cohort of candidates sitting under the revised Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) aligned structure, which aims to emphasize skills, innovation, and holistic education.

As the exams continue, the focus remains on ensuring that every candidate is given an equal chance to demonstrate their hard work and potential.
