A Nairobi man is recovering in hospital after an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred on the eve of Valentine’s Day in Umoja 1 Estate. Steve Godia, a third-year student at Multimedia University, claims his girlfriend attacked him with hot water during a late-night confrontation at his residence.
According to Godia, the dispute arose after accusations that he was still communicating with his ex-girlfriend. He alleges that during the argument, the suspect boiled water and poured it on his face while he was inside the house. The incident reportedly left him with severe facial burns, swollen eyes, and intense pain.
He was rushed to hospital, where he remains under medical treatment. Medical sources indicate that recovery from burn injuries can take time, depending on severity. Godia further claims that after the alleged attack, the suspect fled the scene, taking with her two mobile phones. He also alleges that approximately KSh 318,000 was transferred from his bank account without his consent.
The matter has been reported to police and is currently under investigation. Authorities are treating the case as suspected attempted murder and grievous assault. The suspect is reportedly still at large as investigations continue.
The incident has also disrupted Godia’s academic life. He says the injuries forced him to miss examinations and interrupted his studies at Multimedia University.
Police have urged members of the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes and to report any information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
