Eight Police Officers Arrested Over Alleged Car Theft at Maseno Police Station

In a shocking twist of events, eight police officers have been arrested in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a car from Maseno Police Station in Kisumu County. The officers, who were on duty at the time of the incident, are accused of playing a role in the theft of the vehicle which had been detained at the station as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to preliminary reports, the vehicle vanished under unclear circumstances, raising serious questions about security lapses within the station. Investigators believe that the theft could not have occurred without insider collusion, leading to the arrest of the officers.

The matter has drawn sharp criticism from members of the public, who view the development as a major breach of trust. Many residents have expressed disappointment, saying police officers—who are supposed to safeguard life and property—should not be linked to such crimes.

Officials from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are probing the case. The arrested officers are expected to face disciplinary action and possible charges once investigations are complete.

This case has once again highlighted growing concerns about accountability and integrity within the police service. It also reignites debate on the need for stronger oversight mechanisms to curb corruption and criminal activities within security institutions.

The vehicle in question is yet to be recovered, and investigations remain ongoing.
