Kenyans for Kenyans: Kenyans Raise over Sh200k for Woman Blasted Over Rent Arrears
In a heartwarming display of community support, Kenyans have rallied together to raise over KSh 200,000 for Milkaa Moraa Tegisi, a mother from Nairobi’s Mukuru kwa Njenga slums who was recently locked out of her home due to rent arrears. This act of generosity comes after a widely publicized incident where Moraa sought assistance from Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre but was turned away.
Moraa had been locked out of her house for a week over unpaid rent arrears. She anticipated that she would receive help from the church only to be turned away.
Moved by her plight, Sammy Ondimu Ngare, an administrative police officer, initiated a fundraising campaign to assist Moraa. Through his efforts and the contributions of compassionate well-wishers, over KSh 200,000 was raised to help Moraa settle her rent arrears and support her family’s needs.
Additionally, Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad, a Nairobi-based philanthropist, offered to pay two years’ rent for Moraa and assist her in starting a small business. He expressed his desire to help after learning about the challenges she faced.
Moraa’s story has touched the hearts of many, leading to an outpouring of support from both local and international communities. This collective effort underscores the power of unity and compassion in addressing societal challenges.
For those who wish to contribute further, donations can be sent directly to Moraa via M-Pesa at 0705028977 (Milka Tegisi).
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of empathy and community support in uplifting those in need.

Trump’s Aid Freeze and Its Impact on U.S.-Funded Programs in Africa
In a recent policy shift, President Donald Trump ordered a 90-day freeze on federal grants and loans, encompassing both domestic and foreign aid programs. This decision has significant implications for U.S.-funded initiatives across Africa, affecting sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.
The Aid Freeze Directive
The directive, issued in late January 2025, aimed to pause approximately $3 trillion in federal assistance to reassess spending priorities. The freeze included a broad spectrum of programs, with only essential services like core medical care, food, and shelter receiving waivers. Notably, services related to abortion, transgender support, and other non-essential areas were excluded from these waivers.
Impact on African Programs
The immediate effect of the aid freeze was felt across various U.S.-funded programs in Africa:
- Healthcare Services: Programs under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) faced uncertainty. While waivers allowed the continuation of HIV treatment, there was ambiguity regarding prevention services, leading to disruptions in comprehensive care.
- Humanitarian Assistance: Organizations providing essential services like food and shelter grappled with confusion over the scope of the waivers, resulting in delays and temporary halts in aid distribution.
- Economic Development Projects: Initiatives aimed at infrastructure development and economic growth experienced funding uncertainties, potentially stalling progress in these critical areas.
Legal Challenges and Policy Reversal
The aid freeze faced immediate legal challenges, with critics arguing that it represented an unlawful overreach of executive power. A federal judge temporarily blocked the freeze, leading to further confusion among aid organizations. Subsequently, the White House Office of Management and Budget rescinded the order, allowing the resumption of federal grants and loans.
Ongoing Uncertainty
Despite the lifting of the freeze, many health and humanitarian groups remain uncertain about the future. The initial directive and its subsequent reversal have led to confusion, with organizations seeking clarity on funding and operational guidelines. This uncertainty poses challenges to the continuity of essential services in African countries reliant on U.S. aid.
Conclusion
The temporary freeze on U.S. federal aid has highlighted the vulnerability of international assistance programs to policy shifts. While the immediate crisis has been averted with the lifting of the freeze, the episode underscores the need for clear communication and stable funding commitments to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical services in Africa.
“Zari Hassan on Love: Why I Married Shakib and Not Diamond Platnumz”
Zari Hassan, the Ugandan business mogul and socialite, has finally opened up about why she chose Shakib Lutaaya as her husband instead of rekindling her romance with Diamond Platnumz, the Tanzanian music superstar with whom she shares two children. Despite public speculation and lingering nostalgia from fans, Zari has made it clear that her relationship with Diamond is strictly co-parenting and friendship—nothing more.
Co-Parenting, Not a Love Story
Zari and Diamond have had a high-profile and turbulent history, filled with both love and controversy. However, in a recent interview, she explained that while they share two beautiful children and will always be connected, romantically, that chapter is closed. She emphasized that their focus is now on raising their kids in a healthy and peaceful environment, without unnecessary drama.
Why Shakib? A Love Built on Understanding
In October 2023, Zari tied the knot with Shakib Lutaaya, a much younger man, which sparked curiosity and debate. But for Zari, age is just a number—what matters is the connection and emotional security she has found in her new husband. She described Shakib as:
✅ Supportive – He respects and understands her lifestyle.
✅ Present & Responsible – Despite having children from past relationships, Shakib remains a committed father.
✅ Her Peace – Unlike past relationships, which were marred by public scrutiny and scandals, her bond with Shakib is built on mutual love, respect, and privacy.
No Regrets, Only Growth
Zari made it clear that her marriage to Shakib was intentional and fulfilling. She has outgrown the drama and heartbreak of past relationships and is now prioritizing her happiness. Though fans still link her to Diamond, she insists that their relationship is strictly about their children.
“At the end of the day, it’s about who makes you happy. Shakib does that for me.” – Zari Hassan
While the world continues to watch her love story unfold, one thing is clear: Zari Hassan is living life on her own terms, with a man who truly values her.
