FKF Increases League Prize Money to Sh20 Million

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has given local football a major boost after announcing an increase in the league prize money to Sh20 million. The new structure is aimed at raising competitiveness and rewarding excellence in Kenyan football.

Under the revised allocation, the Kenya Premier League winners will now walk away with Sh15 million, a significant step up that is expected to motivate clubs to fight harder for the top spot. Meanwhile, the first and second runners-up will share Sh5 million, ensuring that even teams that narrowly miss out on the title receive recognition for their efforts.

FKF President [insert name if you want] emphasized that the federation is committed to supporting clubs and enhancing the attractiveness of the league. He added that the improved prize structure is part of broader reforms intended to strengthen local football and encourage clubs to invest in player welfare, facilities, and youth development.

The move has been welcomed by football stakeholders, with many fans noting that the increased prize money will not only make the league more competitive but also reduce the financial struggles faced by many clubs.

For years, Kenyan clubs have lamented inadequate funding and limited incentives compared to regional leagues. With this new prize structure, FKF hopes to bridge that gap and set the stage for a more vibrant football culture in the country.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on the title race — with Sh15 million now on the line, the battle for the crown is expected to be more intense than ever.
