A 23-year-old Ugandan nanny, identified as Nabalayo Everline Loice, was arrested today by DCI

A 23-year-old Ugandan nanny, identified as Nabalayo Everline Loice, was arrested today by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi. She was apprehended in the Kariokor area while attempting to board a bus bound for Uganda.

Nabalayo is accused of orchestrating a robbery at her employer’s residence in Eastleigh on November 1, 2024. CCTV footage reportedly shows her collaborating with a male accomplice to execute the theft. The footage captures the man forcibly entering the house after Nabalayo hesitated to let him in. Once inside, the assailant pursued and attacked a 20-year-old house help who attempted to flee. The attacker used a hammer to assault the victim, leaving her with serious injuries, including a broken tooth and multiple wounds on her head, hands, and legs.

The duo allegedly stole valuables, including gold jewelry valued at KSh 210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop worth KSh 110,000, an Infinix phone priced at KSh 15,000, and cash totaling KSh 335,000. After the robbery, Nabalayo fled the scene with her accomplice. The employer was not at home during the incident, as he was out with his children, while his wife was reportedly in India receiving medical treatment.

Following a weeks-long manhunt, Nabalayo was arrested and is currently in police custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment. The search for her accomplice, who remains at large, is ongoing.

The DCI has shared details of the arrest on their official social media platforms.
