A woman from Machakos County, identified as Linet Munala, has been arrested following a tragic incident in which her three young children were found dead inside their apartment in Mlolongo.
According to police reports, the children are believed to have ingested poison that was allegedly mixed into porridge prepared for them. The minors were later discovered lifeless, each lying in separate beds within the house. Authorities say the incident occurred while the children’s father was away in Nairobi.
Preliminary investigations indicate the tragedy may be linked to an ongoing domestic dispute. The suspect reportedly accused her husband of infidelity, a disagreement that is now central to the police inquiry as detectives work to establish the full sequence of events and possible motive.
Concern was raised after the woman reportedly asked neighbours to check on the children. Alarmed by the situation, the neighbours alerted local authorities, who responded and secured the scene before transferring the bodies for further examination.
Linet Munala is currently being held at Mlolongo Police Station as investigations continue. Police have confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, while toxicology tests are expected to provide further clarity.
The incident has shocked residents of the area, with community members expressing grief and disbelief over the loss of young lives. Leaders and child welfare advocates have renewed calls for early intervention in domestic conflicts and greater access to family and mental health support services.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as the case proceeds through the legal process. More details are expected to emerge as investigations progress.
